Plurk is a free social networking and micro-blogging service that allows users to send updates (otherwise known as plurks) through short messages or links, which can be up to 140 characters in length. Updates are then shown on the user's home page using a timeline which lists all the updates received in chronological order, and delivered to other users who have signed up to receive them. Sound familiar?

June 18, 2008 (09:22):Just woken up. The counter has already hit 5 million, with the USA claiming 2 million of those downloads alone. Germany is still putting the rest of the world to shame (excluding the USA)! I thought the downloads per minute was slowly descending, point by point, but then it started to shoot up again. Would love to see a graph of the counter and downloads per minute to see the distribution.
June 17, 2008 (23:21):Everything seems to be running smoothly and we currently have just over 1.5 million downloads and a speed of about 7000 downloads per minute. […]

Keyloggers are are commonly a form of software (but can also be hardware) that are used to keep track of everything you type on your computer. Essentially every key you press is recorded to a file, which can be relayed over the internet to someone who can use the information gathered. Every e-mail you write, comment you post and password you type is recorded to a text file (normally along with the name of the application you had focus on at the time). Some keyloggers can also take screenshots and even short videos of your screen, so that they know exactly […]

With the advent of computer sellers such as Dell, many people feel that it is no longer worth it to build your own, whether that is due to time or economic value. Most of the time you can build your own PC and still have enough money left over for petrol. In fact, not only is it cheaper to home build your computer but it also means that you choose everything that your new computer has and you can exclude pre-installed applications that have no relevance to you.
When you buy a pre-built computer, often you aren't given an operating system […]

Merry Christmas and a happy new year!
Posted on Tuesday, December 25, 2007, in General, by Bull3t.
Haven't been posting much lately, as I have been getting ready for my exams next year. I have the time to wish all my readers a merry Christmas and a happy new year, 2008. In 2008 I hope to review some software and/or games and get in a few more posts. On 1st March 2008, I will be reviewing my blogs usage statistics and celebrating the blogs 1st-year anniversary on this domain name (blog.bull3t.me.uk).
I am not one for making new year resolutions, and even if I do make them, I am unlikely to keep them. However, just this once I […]

StumbleUpon traffic really isn't all that good
Posted on Saturday, November 24, 2007, in Blogging, by Bull3t.
Many people (such as Tibi Puiu, DoshDosh, Dan Grossman, Dev Basu and Shaun Low) have been writing about StumbleUpon lately and how it brings in a good number of visitors to your website, so here is my view on it.
I think that the main problem with visitors stumbling across your website through StumbleUpon is that most of them will not be on your site for anything more than a few minutes. They will read through the article they land on (if the title or first few lines interests them) and then hit the like/dislike button and re-stumble. This means that they […]

Earlier this month I managed to get my hands on a copy of Red Hat Enterprise Linux. This version was in fact a server edition (or meant to be used as one), but I was not too impressed, I know that Linux is an open source operating system good for hosting servers on, whether that be Intranet, Internet or network and that the user interface depends entirely on the distributable you have chosen.
I installed Red Hat Linux on to an 80 gigabyte hard-drive in the same computer that my Windows operating system runs on. So, it should be quite a […]

Another week rolls by and so do the blog posts, here is this weeks list of interesting posts that I stumbled across:
- Stumble Your Way From 10 To 4000 Readers: This post talks about StumbleUpon and how it has the ability to drive hundreds (or even thousands) of visitors to your blog within a few days.
- The Blogger's Guide to Google Webmaster Tools: I use Google Webmaster Tools but I also use many other webmaster tools that are offered by other companies. Google Webmaster Tools is currently at the bottom of my list, however this post should help me and you make […]

I have just released a new WordPress plugin called Ajax Post Save. Ajax Post Save is a WordPress plugin which enables you to save your posts and pages through Ajax; you can now make edits to a post and not have to reload the WordPress administration every time you want to preview the post. WordPress already has an Ajax save function which is used to automatically save a drafted post after 120 seconds. This is helpful, but it only works for posts that have the "draft" flag and is not made available for pages; this function almost useless.
This plugin puts the […]
